Project Surabhi: Creating resilient children through education.
Project Surabhi is an education nonprofit that helps young people think critically about the world around them. We create culturally responsive learning experiences that explore identity, inequality, and justice through storytelling, discussion, and hands-on projects.
Our work began with field research in India, where we partnered with schools and communities to understand the challenges children face at the intersection of caste, gender, and access to education. Those early conversations made it clear that many students weren’t just underserved, they were unheard. We wanted to change that.
Today, Project Surabhi is growing into a global effort, with a focus on bringing transformative education to classrooms and community spaces in the U.S. and beyond. We design tools and programs that help students connect what they learn to the lives they live. Whether they are grappling with personal identity, local injustice, or global issues, we want every young person to feel equipped to ask hard questions and imagine new possibilities.
Our programs integrate critical thinking, storytelling, and social-emotional learning. We collaborate with educators and community organizations to bring our content into schools, after-school programs, and youth spaces to build a bridge between global insight and local relevance.
We believe education should do more than prepare students for tests. It should prepare them for life.
